A Valentines Day Wedding

Hi there! It’s been a while since we wrote a blog post here, so I wanted to talk about and show you the wedding we shot on Valentines day.

In January 2012 Chrissy and I received a tweet from one of our Bride’s who’s wedding we shot last year. Her son’s best friend was getting married on Valentines day and he had recommend us for making a good job on his mums wedding.
That date was free in our calendar so we said gladly accepted the booking. What’s more romantic than shooting a wedding with someone you love on Valentines day!?

We met with Sarah (Bride) & Dan (Groom) two weeks before the wedding to run through the plans and all the other stuff you have to go though.
They were a lovely young couple and we were really excited to photograph their wedding when we left theirs.
After that we went out and found the route where we would be going on the day so that we were well prepared.

On the big day everything ran really smoothly. The Bride looked stunning, the groom looked a true gentleman and all the guests were dressed to impress!

We were there the whole day from Bridal prep to after the first dance. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and they were such a great couple to photograph!

Nabil & Ioana’s Engagement Photos

I’ve decided to take over from Stuart and do a blog this week.

We had a pretty eventful Saturday doing an engagement shoot for Nabil and Ioana. Stuart has known Nabil for years so we were very excited when they asked us to do their wedding/ engagement photos!

The original plan was to go over to Maidenhead (where they live) and then head down to the river for some typical romantic shots, however, the Great British weather obviously didn’t agree with our plan so when it started tipping it down with rain we decided to do the shoot in our studio instead.

Nabil and Ioana turned up with Nabil’s young sons Kayden and Jerome and Ioana’s friend Ellie from Romania. As well as some regular engagement shots, they also wanted some family photos as well and it was quite a tiring job to make sure both the boys were looking at the camera and smiling at the same time.

It was lovely to spend an afternoon in the presence of a couple that are so much in love and we are really looking forward to photographing their wedding on 24th September.

Holiday in Menorca

I haven’t written a blog post for a while so thought I would share a few photos of our recent holiday in Menorca.

We traveled there on the July 4th and stayed there for a week in a place called Cala Galdana. It was a great relax and time out from everyday life.

However, I did take my camera but didn’t go mad with taking photos.
Here’s a few favourites:

The Sound Mirrors

20110608-063317.jpg

Chrissy and I have been in search of the Sound Mirrors at Dungeness now for quite some time now.

A bit of history about them, they were built for the Second World War to reflect the sound of enemy aircraft coming towards the coast.

Finally, on Saturday after the Hamstreet Country Show we went for a drive and found them! So we grabbed my camera and put Chrissy’s zoomy lens on it and went for a small trek across the shingle to try and get close enough to get some shots of these huge concrete structures.

This is as close as we could get.

If you want to get up really close you need to go on an organised walk where they open the locked swing bridge so you can get across.

It seemed like a cool place for some portraits too, so Chrissy and I took turns to pose on the bridge. These are some of the shots we got.

Our Stall

Last weekend (4-5/06/2011) Chrissy and I had a stall for Saturday and Sunday at the Country Show at Hamstreet in Kent.

We we’re displaying some of our personal work for people to see and potentially buy.

We attended last year too and met some great people. One of them was Laurence Akers who is the editor of Nikon Pro magazine. We’ve been emailing back and forth over the last year and he’s been giving us some great advise.

This year wasn’t as good unfortunately. Saturday was ok as the weather was great. No sales, but we handed out a lot of business cards and met quite a few people.

Sunday however was disappointing. It should have been the better day out of the two as it was the classic cars show which always brings more people along. It was the weather though that let us down on Sunday. It just rained the whole day!
Thankfully we were in the big Marquee this year so we were sheltered from the rain. This brought all the people from the outside to have a walk around inside which was good for us. We handed out quite a lot of cards because of that.

All in all it was an ok weekend. Was no way as good as last year, but most people walked away from us this year with a card in their hand which they didn’t last year.

Here’s a few shots from the Hamstreet Country Show 2011

Steam train rides in Kent

Keeping this short as I’m writing it on the train. Technology these days is amazing hey!?

Just wanted to post some photos I took over the last couple of months.

Chrissy and I have been on a few steam trains in Kent lately.
First one was in April when we had a family day out at Tenterden. We also had a walk around Bodium Castle.

The second set of steam trains Chrissy and I went on was from Hythe to Dungeness on the miniature railway over the break for the Royal Wedding. It’s a great day out, It’s £15 each for an unlimited day pass.

Welcome to our new and improved blog!

Hello people of the world!
Welcome to our new blog. I thought the old blog was a bit boring and simple, plus it was harder to add new blogs while on the move. So decided to start a fresh with WordPress because I’ve heard good reviews about it, plus there’s an app for my iPhone that allows me to update it when I’m away from my Mac!

Chrissy and I should be updating this on a more regular basis now. Sometimes we’ll have a lot to say, sometimes we might just add a few photos to show where we’ve been and what we’re doing.

Hope you like it. Over and out.

You can still visit the old blog site at: http://photography1031.blogspot.com
